We arrived, grabbed some maps & trekked to Chek Jawa. The climb up the watchtower re-lit my fear of heights. At the top, i settled after getting used to the tower's sway.

View from there wasn't too bad. We could see BMTC. The trip down was hilarious with Chuan Lim expressing his fear of heights.

We went to the shore at low tide. But the girls went back on the boardwalk soon after. We tried heading out to the water. Nasir, the furthest out, got stuck in mud. We were no more than 10 metres from drier ground, it was unwise to venture further in our attire. Jeans/berms & sneakers/trek shoes.

Clambered up to the boardwalk & continued on. The water was nice. At low tide, it was clear enough to see the sea grass. It's deteriorating for sure. But that's the fate of anything touched by man.

Facing Serangoon Harbour, the wind was really strong. Great place to be. At the end of the trail, we decided against going to the rocks to check out a flight of stone steps. Clouds & thunder were coming in.

We proceeded to water proof our items; placing them in my ziploc bag. To my embarrassment, my bag gave way. Cheryl's camera was the ultimate victim. Scratches & a dent on the front face.

Sorry Cheryl!

Luckily Nasir had a larger bag. In the items went & we headed for the North in the rain. Had lunch at the hut outside Chek Jawa in the presence of an attractive girl whom Chuan Lim described "looks as if the world owes her a million dollars".

Reached the North, then went back towards Ubin Town, passing sluice gates & muddy ground. Shared some ghostly experiences at a hut as we snacked. Had expensive Mee Rebus after which the girls decided to head back to mainland.

Rented $4 bicycles & set out to find the bike trail. We got misled at the trail entrance but eventually found our way to the trails. There was a BMX style bike circuit & several off road trails; all which at some point had a tad too much thorned vegetation.

The off road trails had 3 levels with blue square being the easiest & double black diamonds the hardest. After 2 or so squares, we ventured to a double black. The double black seemed to be an overgrown field with a high slope ahead filled with denser vegetation.

Hence we took a black diamond trail. Down a steep rocky drop & up a steep dirt path built into a hill side. Steep to the extent that we worried about flipping over should the front wheel hit something.

Besides, to go off the trail would have you tumbling down the slope, smacking into trees & potentially breaking your back. Hairul & Chuan Lim fell.

Eventually we left the area alive & sprayed in mud. Most of us with some scratches either from thorns or falls. Returned the bikes to the cute daughter of the shopkeeper.

I pity her. They were closing & it was quite a chore to brush all the mud off our bikes. I was surprised they didn't have a spray like the first store.

We changed, had dinner at Changi Village before heading home.

Till i get the photos.
