So off went my day. Some cleaning up; pumped my bicycle tyres up & met Matt.
Had lunch at AMK before putting Marina Square as our destination. Detoured to Serangoon, down to Potong Pasir & Bendemeer before turning to the Lavender area, through Bugis & finally Suntec.
Took a look at the IT fair. Were against going down to Marina Square, so we started on our return trip. Replenished water at a Mac toilet, went back the way we came. From Serangoon to Kovan where we split up.
I managed the moderate stretch of incline diagonal of Kovan & started enjoying the downward trip among the private houses. That route spares me a longer stretch of gentler incline.
Made a turn from a 'main' road to a road i believed would lead me out of the settlement. With my much of my speed bled off, i pedaled once more only to have my feet slip off the pedals. Initially, i thought i was using a too small gear ratio; but something felt wrong, i wasn't feeling anything at all.
I stopped & tried out the pedals again. The chain ran uselessly against the gears. The bunch of 6 gears were turning. But my rear wheel wasn't. Pedaling backwards didn't solve the problem. Fortunately, i was more or less near to my house; walked back with the bike.
Problem was solved when i reversed my bike out of the lift at my block. Slightly disappointing, since i was hoping for an excuse to buy a new bike. It already was about 2 years old back when Nurain dumped me.
Not too bad for a 7 year old bike. I left home today half expecting the machine to give up on me. It lasted pretty well given it's age & lack of maintenance.
Intended to wish Rina luck before the revelation of her results in the early afternoon. Somehow, i forgot; sent it only later afternoon & i feel bad about it.
Her response to my enquiry was well... It's not her fault.
I fear we're drifting apart once again. Looking ahead, i don't see much opportunities we can catch up with each other.
